Late last month, a clear test run whistle sounded in a large Sihanoukville manufacturing workshop. The 20-ton double-girder overhead crane designed and manufactured by HSCRANE passed all load tests. It was officially delivered to the customer for use. This marks the successful completion of the project. It also confirms our delivery capabilities in the Southeast Asian heavy material handling market.

As Cambodia’s largest seaport city, Sihanoukville has seen rapid industrial and logistics development recently. Our client is a well-known local heavy steel structure processing enterprise. As production capacity expanded, original lifting equipment fell short. The efficiency and tonnage could no longer meet frequent heavy component transfer needs. Targeted Technical Optimization and Customization

Sihanoukville is in a tropical coastal area with year-round high temperatures and humidity. It also has strong salt spray corrosiveness. We abandoned standard configurations during design and manufacturing. We made targeted optimizations for the overhead crane:

  • High-Standard Anti-Corrosion Coating:The steel structure shot blasting reaches Sa2.5 grade. The primer uses high-quality epoxy zinc-rich primer. The topcoat uses polyurethane finish. Total paint thickness reaches 140μm. This significantly improves the equipment’s anti-rust ability in marine climates.
  • Full-Vehicle Inverter Control:The client needs to handle precise steel components. Hoisting, trolley, and crane travel mechanisms use top-tier inverters. This completely solves the “swing” problem during traditional overhead crane starts and stops. It ensures heavy loads are positioned smoothly and accurately.
  • Enhanced Safety Protection:Standard features include weight overload limiters and infrared collision sensors. Sound and light alarm systems are also included. Multiple protections ensure operation safety under complex workshop conditions.

Targeted Technical Optimization and Customization

Strict Delivery and Logistics Control

The 20-ton double-girder overhead crane has a large volume and heavy deadweight. Transnational logistics posed a significant challenge. After completing pre-assembly and no-load testing in the workshop, we began the intense shipping phase.

The main girder adopts a split design. This maximizes the loading space of a 40-foot open-top (OT) container. During packaging, key painted surfaces used double wrapping. We used anti-scratch felt and thickened waterproof cloth. All motors, electrical cabinets, and wearing parts were placed together. They went into custom fumigation-free wooden boxes. Desiccants and vacuum moisture-proof treatments were added inside.

The equipment was loaded at the factory and shipped from a domestic port. After about half a month of sailing, it arrived safely. The overhead crane reached Sihanoukville Port completely intact.

Strict Delivery and Logistics Control

On-Site Installation and Commissioning Process

After the overhead crane arrived, our overseas after-sales engineer team arrived simultaneously. The client’s workshop had limited internal space. It was also the local rainy season. This brought some resistance to the installation progress.

  1. Track Retesting and Girder Assembly:Engineers precisely retested the levelness and span. They checked original load-bearing beams and new tracks. Then, high-strength bolt connections were completed on the ground. This joined the two main girders, end carriages, and walkways.
  2. Overall Lifting:We coordinated with two rented local large-tonnage mobile cranes. While ensuring balanced stress points, the main girder frame was lifted smoothly. It then dropped accurately into the track.
  3. Trolley and Electrical Installation:After hoisting the lifting trolley into place, complex electrical wiring started quickly. Conduit layouts strictly followed industrial standards. This ensured a neat appearance and prevented wire wear.
  4. Commissioning and Acceptance:After power transmission, engineers conducted sequential tests. These included no-load, rated load, 1.25x static load, and 1.1x dynamic load tests. Main girder downward deflection met international standards perfectly. The braking system responded sensitively. Variable frequency operation had no abnormal noise.

On-Site Installation and Commissioning Process

The client’s site equipment supervisor highly praised our construction efficiency and craftsmanship. “HSCRANE handles equipment details very well. The operational smoothness especially exceeded our expectations.” This successful delivery solved the client’s capacity bottleneck.
