Project Background

Haiphong in Vietnam is a major coastal industrial city and port hub in Southeast Asia. It has attracted many precision machinery and electronics companies in recent years. In 2025, a multinational parts processor in a Haiphong industrial park faced line upgrades. The customer’s compact workshop processed precision molds and castings weighing 3 to 4.5 tons. Their former forklift handling mode occupied ground channels and caused low efficiency in precise positioning. The customer urgently needed a jib crane solution with a small footprint, flexible turning, and precise positioning.

Technical Advantages and Solutions of Jib Crane

• 360° full coverage and space optimization: This 5-ton crane uses a pillar-mounted floor design. Its pillar occupies less than 1 square meter on the workshop floor. The 6-meter beam rotates 360 degrees electrically, covering over 110 square meters. It connects machining, inspection, and stacking areas in tight spaces. This 5-ton jib crane completely replaces heavy forklift operations.
• Low headroom design and height utilization: Fire pipes and lighting lines restricted space inside the customer’s plant. HSCRANE specially configured a low headroom electric chain hoist for the jib crane. This design shortened the distance between hook and beam compared to standard hoists. It provided extra lifting space under the same building height. This ensured large molds easily bypassed equipment obstacles.
• Precise positioning via VFD control: Tiny shakes during mold assembly could damage precision workpieces. We upgraded the slewing mechanism of the jib crane to a VFD control system. This ensured extremely smooth starts and stops, eliminating pendulum effects. Operators can precisely stop 5-ton heavy loads above 5mm positioning holes using this jib crane.
• Protective coating for coastal environments: Air in Haiphong is humid and corrosive from salt spray. Pillar and beam surfaces of the jib crane underwent shot blasting and 120μm epoxy zinc-rich coating. Electrical parts are sealed in IP55 control boxes to prevent moisture short circuits.

Project Results and Customer Feedback

After six months of operation, assembly line efficiency increased by 45%. Labor costs were reduced by 20% for the customer. The production supervisor gave high feedback on the performance:
