Recently, HSCRANE delivered a customized portable gantry crane to a client. They are in a precision machining zone in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The client undertakes precision OEM business for multinational auto parts and heavy industrial accessories. The workshop is densely packed with high-value CNC machining centers and milling machines. Due to surging orders, the production line runs at full capacity 24 hours a day.
In daily processing, operators frequently lift metal blanks and semi-finished fixtures. These weigh from 300kg to 800kg, and go onto CNC machine workbenches. The factory originally relied on a single 5-ton overhead crane. It handled material flow for the entire production line. However, the crane frequently handled lifting tasks for various processes. This caused long waiting times for CNC operators during loading and unloading. Severe machine downtime directly slowed down the overall utilization rate.
In addition, the internal equipment layout of the workshop is very compact. Operating space left for heavy lifting equipment is extremely limited. The client tried installing a pillar jib crane. But the factory foundation lacked thickness for high-strength chemical anchors. The long modification period also forced them to abandon this plan. They faced realities of unbroken floors, narrow spaces, and frequent independent lifting. Introducing a flexible, non-interfering lifting plan became an urgent need to boost capacity.

Solution: Customized 1t Portable Gantry Crane

Our technical engineers analyzed the client’s site drawings and had video communications. We recommended a 1-ton portable gantry crane with a motorized electric chain hoist. This plan has several core advantages. It perfectly matches the special working conditions of the machining workshop:

  • High Mobility and Flexible Scheduling:The bottom has four heavy-duty universal polyurethane (PU) casters. PU material is wear-resistant. It effectively protects the workshop’s epoxy floor from indentation damage. Without a load, 1-2 workers can easily push the portable gantry crane. It shuttles between different CNC machines. This achieves high efficiency where one lifting device serves multiple machines.
  • Independent Operation, Eliminating Interference:The equipment is completely independent of the original overhead crane system. It runs directly on the ground. This solves interference problems with the mid-air crane routes. Operators can push it whenever needed. This completely eliminates invalid waiting times for large overhead cranes.
  • Precise Positioning and Stable Lifting:The selected electric chain hoist operates stably with no obvious lifting displacement. This suits the high precision needs of machining for workpiece clamping. It avoids hard collisions between blanks and fixtures during unloading.

The portable gantry crane uses a modular bolt connection design. After arriving at the client’s factory from Ho Chi Minh port, assembly began. The internal maintenance team used a forklift to finish assembly and testing under 2 hours. They put it into production use on the same day.
After three months of actual operation, the Vietnamese machining factory manager reported an excellent experience. Average loading and unloading times in the CNC workshop dropped by about 40%.
